Selection Guide & Differences Between Metal Noise Barriers and Transparent Noise Barriers for Highway Noise Reduction Projects

With the continuous improvement of domestic and international traffic road networks, the demand for noise control along highways, viaducts and high-speed railways has been increasing. Noise barriers have become core supporting products for municipal noise reduction projects. At present, metal noise barriers and transparent PC noise barriers are the two most widely used types in engineering construction.

The metal noise barrier adopts a perforated sound-absorbing structure with galvanized steel plate or aluminum alloy plate, filled with high-density glass wool inside. It features high noise reduction coefficient, strong wind and earthquake resistance, making it suitable for large-scale highway sections and factory boundary noise reduction. The transparent noise barrier is made of polycarbonate PC sheet with high light transmittance and zero visual obstruction. It is mostly applied to urban viaducts, landscape roads and residential road sections, achieving a perfect balance between noise reduction and landscape aesthetics.

In engineering selection, metal noise barriers are preferred for remote main roads and sections with strong wind and sand erosion. Transparent noise barriers or composite barrier systems are recommended for urban landscape roads, commercial areas and residential bridges. Both products support customized height, color and structure to meet the acceptance standards of various municipal, traffic and industrial noise reduction projects.
